Dear Parents:

Welcome Back!!  Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Mrs. Alison Milazzo and I will be your child’s Social Studies & Science teacher for this school year.  I’ve been working as a Special Education Teacher in the North Bergen School District for the past 19 years.   I hold a B.A. degree in Special Education and an M.A. in general education.  I reside in Essex County with my husband, 9 year daughter, our cat, and two dogs.

I’d like to  “Welcome” you to another incredible school year your child will have within his/her school career.  This is an exciting time as you child will embark upon new adventures in the world of learning.  This is a year of important transitions, as well as one in which acquisitions of new skills is accelerated.  I hope to make your child’s day of learning an experience filled with adventures and fun filled.  I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s years of schooling.  Each child will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring skills as he/she is developmentally ready.  Maintaining each child’s self-esteem and building secure foundation for growth will always remain a priority in our class.  Here are some ways you can help:

1. Please check your child’s folder each night for their school work and any important papers that need to be signed and returned.
2. Celebrate your child’s success, no matter how small it may seem.  This will keep your child enthusiastic about learning and proud of their work.  
3. Read to and with your child every day, if possible.  The more your child is exposed to language, the easier it will be for him/her to incorporate new skills in reading and writing in the classroom.
