Hello parents and students!
My name is Bladimir Taveras and I am the general music teacher for Kennedy Elementary. This is my first-year teaching here and I am very excited and honored to be sharing a classroom with my students. I am a professional Bass guitar player who’s performed with Various Artists within the Latin Genre. Music has been a passion of mine since my early years, it has become a career and passion in my life.

I was born and raised in New York City. I attended public schools where music classes weren’t offered as much and pretty much figured things out for myself till I studied music later on. Working in Kennedy allows for our students to have the music classes they need to discover and expand their hidden talent. We make sure our music class is a stress-free environment together with effective learning and fun experiences. In my classroom, we will/have played on the various instruments of the room. These include BoomWhackers, Orff Intruments, ukeleles, and various percussion instruments from Latin and African origin. I also ensure the students learn through “Dalcroze” movement activities. It is also my goal to ensure music literacy among the students. The goal is for students to understand basic musical notation and have meaningful, RELATABLE, experiences with it.
