Hello Parents!  This page will give you lots of information about my classroom policies.  Please come back and refer to it anytime.

• Homework: An online math assignment will be given whenever a new lesson has been taught. Any unfinished classwork becomes homework and must be completed the same day it was assigned.  Other homework such as reports and projects may be assigned throughout the year.

• Tests: Tests will be given upon completion of a unit, chapter or set of standards in each subject.  Accordingly, there may be a test any day of the week. Notices for tests will be given at least two days in advance.

• Discipline: 5th and 6th grade students are disciplined using a set of consequences if they do not follow our classroom rules.  For a first offense, a warning will be given. For a second offense, the student will be given an in class separation from the group.  For a third offense, a consequence letter will be sent home. For extreme behaviors (bullying, disrespect, etc.), I will contact you.

• Grades:
  • MIS means the assignment was not turned in. It has a value of zero (0). PLEASE NOTE: I do not accept late work.
  • Any work turned in on time will receive a numeric grade or count towards your child's participation grade, depending on the assignment. PLEASE NOTE: I do not accept late work.
  

• Cell Phones: Cell phones are expected to be turned off and put away for the duration of class. If I see a student's phone FOR ANY REASON, I will confiscate it until the end of the day. It is the student's responsibility to retrieve their phone. For repeat offenders (3 times), phones will only be released to a parent or guardian.

• Birthdays: Birthdays of homeroom students will be celebrated with a class card and a gift from the teacher. Please do not send snacks or goody bags of any kind. Students who have summer birthdays may celebrate their half birthdays.

• Extra Help: I am available for extra help for selected students only on Fridays from 3-3:30 pm.
