Ms. Serino's Bio
Hello students and parents! My name is Joely Serino, and I want to welcome you to my little slice of cyberspace, my webpage. This is my 21st year teaching in North Bergen and my 17th year teaching at Kennedy School. One might say that I live and breathe teaching, and they are probably right. Teaching is one of my passions; it allows me to be creative and a positive influence for the younger generation. However, I also have a love for reading and writing, which makes my job not a job at all but a love of mine. So what do I do when I'm not teaching? You can either catch me curled up with a YA (young adult) book because I'm always on the hunt for the next great read for my students, or you'll find me writing a poem and sharing it with the poetry community on social media. As a matter of fact, I am a published author. My first poetry book "This is Not the Girl I Was Supposed to Be," was published 3 years ago, and my 2nd poetry book "We Had To Be" is currently the #1 new release on Amazon. I am also a Breast Cancer survivor, I love hanging out with my two dogs, Jovi and Bailey, and traveling with my husband, who is also a teacher in North Bergen.
Aside from teaching and my hobbies, I am also the moderator for the Poetry Club at Kennedy School. The Poetry Club is fairly new to Kennedy School and was formed after we received a huge response to our first Poetry Reading. I am excited to share all of my knowledge with our new 7th graders!
